32k Pension Accounts Under Scanner in Udupi

WITH the Directorate of Social Security and Pensions declaring over 32,000 pension accounts as potentially ineligible, the Revenue Department has launched a verification drive in Udupi.

In a recent circular to district administrations, the directorate sought for scrutiny of beneficiaries enrolled under two pension schemes -- Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme (IGNOAPS) and Sandhya Suraksha Yojane.

According to the circular received by the district administration, 10,960 beneficiaries under IGNOAPS, and 21,419 under Sandhya Suraksha Yojane have been found ineligible. In all, 32,379 pensioners are under the scanner in the district.
