Two decades on, Usilampatti GH mortuary gets new freezer boxes

AFTER nearly two decades, the Usilampatti Government Headquarters Hospital in Madurai district has finally received a new freezer box for its mortuary ward, bringing much-needed relief to hospital staff who struggled with outdated and malfunctioning equipment for years.
Hospital authorities confirmed that ten new freezer boxes worth ₹5-₹7 lakh have been installed in the newly constructed mortuary ward on the premises. Previously, the hospital had only seven freezer boxes that were over 20 years old and frequently broke down, making it difficult to preserve unidentified or unclaimed bodies for extended periods.
