The Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report on Gujarat's health services, tabled in the Assembly on Friday, exposes glaring infrastructural gaps and an alarming shortage of doctors, specialists, and nursing faculty.

- Dilip Singh Kshatriya @Ahmedabad

The "Public Health Infrastructure and Management of Health Services 2024" noted that despite hiring 9,983 healthcare workers between 2016 and 2022, the shortage of doctors stood at 23%, nurses at 6%, and paramedics at 23% as of March 2022. In 22 districts, over a quarter of doctors' posts remained unfilled, while 19 districts faced a similar crisis for paramedics.
