No harness: CMRL site worker killed after 60 feet fall

A 23-year-old migrant worker died in the early hours of Friday after falling from a 60-foot elevated structure when working at the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) construction site near Sholinganallur.
The worker was identified as Bikee Kumar Paswan from Jharkhand. He died on the spot. His co-worker too fell but miraculously escaped as he did not hit the ground, instead fell on mud, said sources.
The co-worker was identified as Santosh Lohara (23), also from Jharkhand. The accident took place around 3.45 am. The two were not secured by safety harnesses despite working at such a height, police said.
