Wild animal threats among key issues highlighted at devpt meeting

The people's representatives raised significant issues, including wild animal threats to human life and concerns regarding the Chamravattom Regulator Cum Bridge, during the district development committee meeting held in Malappuram on Saturday.

Vallikunnu MLA P Abdul Hameed emphasised in the meeting that attacks by wild animals should not be taken lightly. He stressed the need to create a safe environment for people living near forest areas, enabling them to work without fear. The MLA also urged the authorities to strengthen protective fencing to prevent wild animals from entering human settlements.

Forest department officials informed the committee that night patrolling is being conducted in areas prone to wild elephant movement and that 18 kilometers of protective fencing have already been installed in the district.
