WITH lakhs of people taking holy dip at Maha Kumbh, pandas or traditional priests are busy tracing the roots of devotees through digitised family records in a camp at Sangam.
The pandas share details of the genealogy of their jajmans (clients) at the click of the mouse.
At a time when joint families are disintegrating, the camp is helping the visitors trace their ancestry.
Digitisation has also relieved over 20,000 'teerth purohits' from maintenance of their traditional ledgers containing information about generations of 'Jajmans'.
Kulvriksh, a Vadodara-based startup, touted to be India's first digital platform dealing in genealogy, has set up its base at Maha Kumbh.
They claim to have already connected over 90,000 families across the country.
