Jaishankar's comments come after Trump's claim that his admin had mediated ceasefire
EXTERNAL Affairs Minister S Jaishankar reiterated on Thursday that India's relations with Pakistan would remain strictly bilateral. His remarks came after US President Donald Trump claimed his administration had mediated a cease-fire between the two countries and offered to help resolve the Kashmir issue.
"Our relations and dealings with Pakistan will be strictly bilateral. That is a national consensus for years, and there is absolutely no change in that," Jaishankar said. The minister's remarks followed Trump's claim that his administration had mediated the ceasefire, along with his offer to intervene in resolving the long-standing Kashmir dispute between the two nations.
While Pakistan welcomed Trump's mediation offer, India firmly rejected it. India maintains that all outstanding issues with Pakistan must be resolved bilaterally.
