Infiltration, border disputes on top of Shah meet agenda

ILLEGAL infiltration by Bangladeshis and Rohingya Muslims, especially in states sharing porous borders with Nepal and Bangladesh, came in for priority discussion at the 25th Central Zonal Council session chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Varanasi on Tuesday.

Four chief ministers, Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh, Dr Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh, Pushkar Singh Dhami of Uttarakhand and Vishnu Dev Sai of Chhattisgarh took part in the meeting along with senior officials. Varanasi transformed into a fortress, with security measures tightened across the city, particularly on the route from the airport to the venue. The meeting discussed ways to tackle infiltration, cross-border threats, and women's safety.
