PASSENGERS were stranded on the Thamarassery Ghat Road for hours on Thursday early morning after two lorries broke down. Many passengers, including those in ambulances, KSRTC buses, tourist buses and private vehicles, were stranded for hours. The first incident took place around midnight on Wednesday near the seventh bend. A lorry carrying wood lost control and overturned. Later, two tyres of another goods lorry burst near the accident site. This completely brought traffic through the Ghat Road to a standstill for five hours from midnight to early morning. Although one lorry was removed from the spot by 6am using a crane after five hours of efforts, the lorry which overturned couldn't be removed till 3pm on Thursday.
