Haryana khap panchayats to back farmers' stir
The New Indian Express Kozhikode
|January 15, 2025
AS the farmers' protests continue without any immediate resolution, particularly in the Punjab and Haryana border areas, Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan has stepped in to prevent the agitation from spreading to other states.
To address the situation, the minister has appointed senior officers, ranging from Joint Secretary to Additional Secretary, as nodal officers to assess the farmers' issues in states where they are intensifying.
According to reports, farmers' organizations affiliated with the RSS have urged the minister during a weekly meeting to take measures to prevent the protests from escalating further. A source stated, "There is a need for an official coordination team to oversee farmers' affairs across the states."
