Bus workers' stir over poor state of roads leaves commuters stranded

KSRTC operated additional services to ease travel crisis in Vadakara, in response to strike
THE Joint Strike Committee of private bus workers staged a dawn-to-dusk strike in Vadakara on Thursday, demanding urgent repairs to the dilapidated National Highway service roads in Vadakara city and a resolution to the persistent traffic congestion. The protest, held amid heavy rains, left hundreds of commuters stranded.
In response to the strike, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) operated additional services to ease the travel crisis. While auto-rickshaws, taxis, and jeeps attempted to fill the gap, long-distance travellers and those heading to remote areas faced significant difficulties.
