5,549 families in Kozhikode dist now free from extreme poverty

KOZHIKODE has made significant progress in the state government's initiative to make Kerala free from extreme poverty.

As part of the project, the district has so far successfully lifted 5,549 families out of extreme poverty—achieving 87 percent of its target.

In its bid to wipe out extreme poverty, the district developed a comprehensive microplan structured around four key areas: food, health, basic income, and sustainable housing. Notably, Valayam, Naripatta, Maniyur and Purameri panchayaths have completed 100 per cent of their objectives and are now officially free from extreme poverty.
