ONE'S language is one's identity, a feeling. So when V K Babu, a potter, realised his community's language was on the brink of extinction, he decided to do something to protect it.
The result is the first Malayalam dictionary for Kummara, the language of the tribal community of Kumbharas. The native of Kakkodi in Kozhikode prepared the dictionary to pass on the language to the new generation. "Ours is a language without a script. In the past, 95% of people spoke it.
