Rahul Makes Moves, Unveils Gujarat Cong Revamp Plans
The New Indian Express Kottayam
|April 17, 2025
The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday, announced new organisational guidelines, promising that electoral candidates will "not be imposed from the top" and performance alone will be the criterion for ticket-seeking workers and ministry-seeking legislators.
He announced a major shift in candidate selection: "From now on, candidates will be decided through the organisation, not imposed from the top. We are launching this as a pilot project in the country."
Addressing Congress booth workers at Modasa's Swaminarayan Mandir during his Gujarat tour, he said the new guidelines will be launched in Gujarat as a "pilot project". He cautioned workers that only those "who fights for people's issues will become leader".
