Erumeli's forest fringes continue to suffer from wild animal attacks

AFTER a brief hiatus, wild animal raids on farmlands at the forest fringes of Erumeli panchayat have raised concern among the residents once again.

AFTER a brief hiatus, wild animal raids on farmlands at the forest fringes of Erumeli panchayat have raised concern among the residents once again. The continuous attacks by bison, wild boars and wild elephants have resulted in significant losses for farmers in Kanamala, Pampavalley, Angel Valley and Kurumbanmoozhy areas.

A couple of days ago, a wild tusker strayed into Parakkadav along the Kanamala-Edakadathy road and destroyed various crops belonging to Tommy, of Puthiyampara-mbil, and John, of Mecherithakidiyel. Around 75 fruit-bearing plantains, areca nut and cocoa trees were destroyed by the jumbo.
