Mobile ABC Centre to Revive Sterilisations in District

After nearly four years of irregular functioning of the Animal Birth Control (ABC) centre in Kollam city, the Animal Husbandry Department is set to launch a mobile ABC unit in the district. Modelled on a caravan-style truck, these mobile units will travel to areas where dog sterilisation is needed. The move comes amid growing resistance against stationary ABC centres across the state.
Indian Immunologicals Limited has funded two portable ABC units for the state Animal Husbandry Department using its CSR funds. Officials said the first unit will begin operations in Thiruvananthapuram, followed by another in Kollam by the end of July.
