APOLLO Hospitals Enterprise Ltd (AHEL), the Chennai-based healthcare major, said it has identified the need to strengthen its presence in northern India and plans to add 4,500 beds over the next few years, taking its current capacity of 9,000 beds to 13,500.
In an interaction with TNIE, Managing Director Suneeta Reddy said the group has reviewed its network and drawn up a focused strategy to build out its footprint in high-demand markets. “With the growing penetration of insurance, more people now have access to quality healthcare, and structural demand for it remains significant. The private sector currently has around 1.5 lakh beds, with corporate hospitals like Apollo providing roughly 70,000. Seeing the clear need for more quality beds, we have decided to expand in key markets,” Reddy said.
