CBI Takes Over Sandeshkhali Violence Probe After HC Order

The CBI has taken over the probe into the killings of three BJP workers during the 2019 post-poll violence in Sandeshkhali and filed an FIR naming TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh as the prime accused, officials said on Sunday.
The development follows the orders of the Calcutta High Court issued on June 30.
As per media reports, Justice Joy Sengupta had ordered the CBI to constitute a special investigation team (SIT) led by a Joint Director-level officer to probe the case with "utmost seriousness".
