200 Gang-Rape, 600 Sexual Harassment Cases in 6 Months

Over 200 gang rape cases and the rape-murder of five girls were registered in Rajasthan between January and June this year, police data shows, spotlighting a rise in crimes against minors and young girls.
The data released by the state police headquarters on Monday also reveals more than 600 reported cases of sexual harassment, highlighting a growing threat to women's safety across the state.
In all, 19,600 criminal cases involving atrocities against women, including crimes related to dowry harassment, were registered until June this year. Police investigations led to charge sheets being filed in 5,359 cases. However, 4,790 cases resulted in FIRs being filed, of which 4,613 were later closed as false. The police failed to investigate 9,451 cases.
