A political controversy erupted in the state after the Punjab government and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Wednesday alleged that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had allegedly dropped Punjabi from the list of subjects for the Class 10 Board exams in the new draft norms while the board officials maintained that the list was only indicative and no subjects would be dropped.
Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains criticised the CBSE for dropping the language from its draft scheme for a twice-a-year board exam format in accordance with the new education policy. He alleged that the policy was
