PRIME Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday came down heavily on the Opposition, including the Congress, for their protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which came into effect on April 8, 2025. The PM stated that the opposition to the Waqf Act was driven by "politics of appeasement" and emphasised that the new law is intended to ensure social justice for women and poor Muslims.
