Periya murder case: CPM hails HC stay on sentence

THE CPM views the Kerala High Court's decision to stay the sentence of four individuals, including former CPM MLA K V Kunhiraman, who had been sentenced to five years in prison in connection with the murder of two Youth Congress workers, Kripesh and Sarathlal, in Periya as a victory for the party's stand.

Top party leaders, including M V Jayarajan and P K Sreemathy, expressed their joy and anticipation over the imminent release of the accused.

Party leaders maintained their unwavering stance that the convicts — K V Kunhiraman, K Manikandan, Raghavan Velutholi, and K V Bhaskaran — had no involvement in the killings.

Speaking at a press meeting on Wednesday, M V Jayarajan said that the stay was expected, and accused Kripesh and Sarathlal of having criminal backgrounds.
