Passengers say their repeated demands for MEMU services continue to be ignored
DESPITE heavy passenger traffic, Kasaragod remains the only district in the state without MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) train services operated by Southern Railway, rail commuters in the region have pointed out. Passengers say their repeated demands for MEMU services, which were raised during a recent protest at Kasaragod railway station, continue to be ignored.
Southern Railway runs around 26 MEMU train services across Kerala, with most of them conducted in and around the Ernakulam and Kollam regions, and some trains deployed for interstate services, such as Palakkad Town-Erode, Palakkad Town-Coimbatore, and Kollam-Kanyakumari.
