Rain Brings Cheer to Farmers, Residents in V'pura, Bagalkot

The recent spell of heavy rain in Vijayapura and Bagalkot districts has not only brought cheer to farmers, but has also led to an early inflow into the Almatti reservoir, doubling the joy of residents.

The inflow, which began on May 19, well ahead of the usual schedule, has continued steadily for five consecutive days. On Friday morning, the reservoir recorded a storage of 23.959 tmc ft of water at a height of 508.66 metres, against its maximum capacity of 123.081 tmc ft at 519.60 metres. The inflow was measured at 1,679 cusecs, while the outflow for barrage, drinking water, and backwater purposes stood at 730 cusecs.
