Media Should Play Active Role in Environmental Awareness, Says Khandre

An active role of media is essential for environment awareness, said Forest, Ecology, Environment and District incharge Minister Eshwar B Khandre after inauguration of the Kalyana Karnataka Division Level Media Training Workshop program organised at the Guru Nanak Engineering College Auditorium here on Wednesday.

He was speaking on the topic 'Role of media on creating the awareness on environment' and talked on the important role media should play in creating public awareness about environmental conservation. "In addition to providing accurate information on wildlife conservation, climate change, water scarcity, forest destruction, etc., the media should also show the way towards developing responsible behaviour among the public," he said.

Khandre continued, "The government is committed to environmental conservation. But for this work to be successful, the cooperation of the media is essential. The media is like a bridge that conveys the government's programmes, policies and responsibilities to the people," he opined.
