Two assault rifles and explosive devices seized, Operation Shiv Shakti by forces continues
TWO days after three terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam attack were killed in a Srinagar encounter, the Army on Wednesday gunned down two more heavily armed terrorists and foiled their infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district. Three weapons, including two assault rifles and explosive devices, were recovered from them.
Jammu-based defence spokesman Lt Col Suneel Bartwal said after receiving credible intelligence, the Army, in a coordinated counter-terrorism operation with J&K police, launched Operation Shiv Shakti along the LoC early Wednesday. The forces laid coordinated ambushes on the infiltration routes.
Soon, both sides exchanged fire. "In the fierce gunfight, two terrorists were killed and the forces seized three weapons, including two AK assault rifles and a pistol, hand grenades, explosive devices and medicine," the spokesperson said.
