Health officials educate public on do's and dont's in snakebite cases

DISTRICT Surveillance Officer Dr Mariyambi V.K. has appealed to the public to stay calm and composed when dealing with snakebite victims and to immediately shift them to the nearest government hospital for timely administration of anti-venom treatment to prevent loss of life.
She was speaking at an awareness programme on snakebite prevention, jointly organised by the district administration, Zilla Panchayat, District Health and Family Welfare Department and District Surveillance Unit.
Officials said that snakebites often cause panic, which can worsen the situation. In cases of venomous bites, the priority should be to shift the victim quickly to a nearby hospital using any available vehicle or by calling 108 ambulance service.
