8 Bala Aadhaar Centres opened for kids in Gadag

IN a major relief to the public, the government opened eight Bala Aadhaar Centres in Gadag district from December 6 where Aadhaar cards will be exclusively made for children.

These centres have jointly been opened by the Women and Child Development Department and the Postal Department.

According to government sources, there are 59,000 children in the district who still do not have Aadhaar cards.

For the last several years, Aadhaar centres have been functional in many cities and rural areas but such centres are plagued by technical issues.

The children deprived of Aadhaar cards are losing out on the benefits of many government schemes as the card is mandatory to avail the scheme.
