AN Afghan national was arrested on Saturday at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) after being caught travelling with a forged Indian passport.
Mohammad Yousaf alias Yaha Khan was apprehended during routine immigration checks following his arrival from Dubai on IndiGo flight 6E-1488. The team led by DSP (immigration) Samapika Patnaik found the passport to be suspicious and initiated a background check.
The verification revealed a look out circular (LOC) issued against him earlier by the Bureau of Immigration. The 54-year-old Yousaf had arrived in India in 2018 on an Afghanistan passport in the name of Yaha Khan. However, he had since disappeared from the radar and the authorities had issued a look out circular against him later.
