Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL), a Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE), under Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India, was incorporated in 1967 with an objective to generate strong indigenous capabilities in the field of professional grade electronics primarily to support the country's nuclear power program. However, a strong R&D base, and a pool of talented and committed work force, has propelled ECIL to become the country's strategic asset supporting the electronic needs of the country in critical sectors such as Aerospace, Nuclear, Defence, Homeland Security and IT & e-governance.

Since its inception, ECIL has always striven hard to build robust indigenous capabilities. During its journey of fifty-seven years, ECIL has given many firsts to the nation. The most notable ones being Black & White TVs (EC TV); Digital Computer; Control and Instrumentation systems for nuclear power plants; Earth-Station Antenna; Automatic Message Switching Systems; Programmable Logic Controller; Solid State Cockpit Voice Recorder; Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).
