The Deputy Commissioner of Gadag has ordered a blanket ban on Ganesh idols made from Plaster of Paris (PoP).
To provide this move impetus, idol makers, associations, and nature lovers are helping create awareness to ensure PoP idols are shunned and avoided.
Despite this, some sellers from neighboring districts are sneakily entering the market and trying to sell PoP idols; yet, local idol makers are encouraging people to buy eco-friendly Ganesh idols.
