IN the wake of destruction of more than a quarter acre of Neolithic Ash Mounds at Sangankallu village in Ballari district by three private land owners recently, the Karnataka State Department of Archaeology initiated steps to protect the heritage site.
The department has installed two signboards at the site which not only carry information about the history and significance of the protected site but also warns of action that will be taken if anyone causes damage to the site.
