STUDENTS and residents of Belligatti village in Dharwad taluk organised a grand farewell for a teacher of a government school who retired on May 31 after serving for 30 years.

- MALLIKARJUN HIREMATH @ Dharwad

The teacher Gouramma Huded had joined the government school on November 11, 1996.

The village is 14 km away from Dharwad city.

The entire village came together and took part in the celebration.

A procession was taken out in the village and the teacher was taken around on a cart which was converted into a chariot.

Showering of flowers, petals, speeches, music and mass feeding took place as part of the event.

Gouramma told TNIE that she has taught primary school students for decades.

She said the foundation during the beginning itself helps in shaping children's careers, enabling them to achieve their goals with minimum efforts.

Hundreds of children taught by Gouramma have become engineers, contractors and government employees today.
