VIJAYANAGARA deputy commissioner (DC) M S Divakar said that with both Gauri-Ganesha festival and Eid Milad falling around the same time this year, people of all communities should celebrate the festivals in the spirit of harmony and mutual respect.
He was speaking at a district-level peace meeting held in Hosapete town which was jointly organised by the district administration and the district police department.
Divakar said that Vijayanagara district has always been known for its peace and communal harmony. All religious communities should ensure that these festivals are observed without causing any disruption to law and order or communal sentiments.
