AFTER 40 hours of search operation in a nala, the body of the person who was washed away in an overflowing drain in Hubballi has been found.

The deceased, Hussain Kalas, aged around 45 to 50 years, was riding pillion with his friend after finishing his work in an agricultural field on Wednesday night when the incident happened. His body was found on the bank of Karkihalla, at a distance of two km from the spot where he was washed away. He had fallen down from the bike in Nekar Nagar and went missing, despite some locals trying to rescue him.

Soon the news spread and emergency and fire services, police department and an SDRF team rushed to the spot and started a search operation but the body was not found in the nala. Suspecting that the body might have got washed away up to some distance, the police department in the district deployed its staff all along the flow of the nala in Misrikoti and Kalaghatgi.

Dharwad district deputy commissioner (DC) Divya Prabhu confirmed that the body has been found. It will be sent to KIMS for a postmortem and other formalities. Eight teams comprising SDRF, emergency service, fire fighters, police and other agencies, were involved in the search operation.
