Hosur school refuses to give deworming pills, under health dept radar

A private CBSE school at Hosur that refused to provide albendazole tablets to students as part of the deworming campaign has come under the scanner of the health and education departments.

This invited official intervention and inspection that led to the discovery of poor waste disposal practices on the campus.

The school authorities had allegedly refused to give the anti-worm medication, saying students would get it from their family physicians, said official sources.

Only after the school education department intervened the students were given the tablets at the school.

The tablets had to be administered on the National Deworming Day on August 11. Those who missed it had to take it on August 18.
