Red flag after complaints against obscene, pornographic and vulgar content on platforms
GIVEN complaints pouring in against alleged obscene, pornographic and vulgar content available on over-the-top (OTT) platforms, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has cautioned digital media service providers against transmitting any content proscribed by law on OTT.
An advisory issued on Wednesday read, "Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021, inter alia, provide for a Code of Ethics for OTT platforms and a three-level institutional mechanism for redressal of grievances relating to violation of the Code of Ethics.
