Rape Attempt on Minor: Woman Guards to be Posted in TN's Shelters

In the aftermath of an alleged sexual assault attempt on a 13-year-old girl at a government-run women's shelter in Chitlapakkam by a 50-year-old security guard working there, Social Welfare Minister Geetha Jeevan announced that the department will post only women security guards at all hostels and shelters housing women and children, across the state.
According to police, the accused, Mathew from Chitlapakkam, who was posted on night duty at the shelter in Chitlapakkam run by the Tamil Nadu Social Welfare Department, was arrested on Sunday night under the Pocso Act for allegedly attempting to sexually assault the girl and injuring her in the process.
