BJP is trying to play divisive politics, says Mamata, calling for unity
WEST Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday urged minorities to remain united amid concerns of a possible split in minority votes ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Her appeal came on the same day suspended Trinamool MLA Humayun Kabir announced the launch of his new political platform, JanatarUn-nyan Party (JUP), barely four months before the polls.
Addressing TMC BLAs, Banerjee said, “Don’t get panicked. Tam telling you to make a decision and get united against the BJP.” Accusing BJP of attempting to divide minority voters, the CM added, “BJP is trying to play division politics among you. But you have to be united against them.”
