On 6th anniv of Art 370 nullification, life remains as usual in J&K amid clamour for statehood

- FAYAZ WANI @Srinagar

AT the historic Ghanta Ghar in city centre Lal Chowk, it was just another busy day. Tourists from across the country could be seen freely roaming around the area and taking pictures and videos against the backdrop of the iconic Ghanta Ghar.

All the shops in the area were functional and for shopkeepers it was yet another day with a hope of good earnings. Life remained unaffected on the 6th anniversary of Article 370's abrogation in Srinagar and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

On August 5, 2019, the Centre scrapped Articles 370 and 35A, which granted special status to J&K and special privileges to J&K residents, and downgraded and bifurcated the erstwhile J&K state into two Union Territories.
