Senior BJD Leader Ananta Das Passes Away

SENIOR BJD leader and former minister Ananta Das passed away at his residence in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
He was 85 and suffering from age-related ailments for a long time.
A four-time MLA from Bhograi Assembly constituency, Das was elected consecutively in 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019. He served as the minister of state for Higher Education and Industries with independent charge from May 7, 2017 to May 29, 2019 and from March 3, 2018 to May 29, 2019 respectively in the Naveen Patnaik cabinet. He was also the government chief whip in the Assembly for three years from May, 2014 to May, 2017.
