KARNATAKA Higher Education department is expected to finalise the engineering seat matrix for this academic year within the next two weeks, with a decision likely on whether to freeze Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) seats and on colleges that have requested changes in their intake capacity.

- RISHITA KHANNA @ Bengaluru

An official told TNIE that the draft seat matrix will be issued within two days, after which objections will be invited from colleges before the final list is published. This year, over 100 colleges across the state have approached the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) seeking approval to either increase or reduce their intake or to start or shut specific courses. The proposed changes were sent to AICTE whose approvals were received by May 20. Some colleges submitted applications as late as the end of May, delaying the process, officials said.
