B'GAVI Firm Accused of ₹7 Cr Tax Evasion, BCC Demands Investigation and Recovery

Corporator argues for lenient approach, says Vega Helmet is a large company employing many in Belagavi

In a significant development, Belagavi-based Vega Helmet Company has been accused of evading municipal taxes amounting to over Rs 7 crore. Belagavi City Mayor Mangesh Pawar has directed the concerned revenue section officials to conduct a thorough investigation and recover the dues in full without any compromise.

During the general council meeting held at the Belagavi City Corporation on Tuesday, the issue of the alleged tax evasion was brought to the forefront. The mayor emphasised that as per the law, the taxes due to the corporation must be collected from the company without any leniency. Ruling group leader Hanumant Kongali raised concerns that representatives from Vega Helmet had previously approached the corporation to negotiate a settlement. He strongly opposed any compromise, insisting that the company should pay the full amount due without any concessions.
