Preparations in full swing for Sullurupeta's Flamingo Festival

THE district administration is gearing up for the Flamingo Festival 2025, set to take place from January 10 to 12, with events centred around Sullurupeta and birding hotspots like Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary and Pulicat Lake.

This year, the festival will be celebrated as a State-level event, drawing bird watchers, nature enthusiasts, and tourists from across the region.

The festival will feature spectacular sights of spot-billed pelicans swimming in Nelapattu, flamingos wading in Pulicat Lake, and a variety of migratory birds soaring through the skies.

The Nelapattu Bird Sanctuary has already recorded significant arrivals of migratory birds, including 800 pelicans, open-billed storks, and flamingos, which are preparing for breeding.
