Kerala plans 2-year probation, negative marks for new drivers

From April 2025, new drivers will face the probation with a points system for traffic rule violations, aimed at reducing accidents & improving road safety in State
STARTING next year, fresh drivers and riders will face a more rigorous process to retain their licences, with the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) introducing a two-year probation period aimed at reducing road accidents.
Set to begin as early as April, 2025, the probation system will see new licence holders receiving negative points for traffic violations. If they accumulate multiple offences, they will have to restart the entire licensing process.
