West Indies tour a litmus Test for Siraj & Co. as India begin transition

WHEN the India team made history at Gabba in 2021, one of the biggest highlights of that victory against Australia was the pace attack they fielded - Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini and T Natarajan. Fast forward it to today, the Men in Blue have travelled to the West Indies with a very similar pace attack. Jaydev Unadkat takes the place of Natarajan and Mukesh Kumar is an extra option. In the last two years, Siraj has become the spearhead of the pace attack of sorts with Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah missing matches due to injury and workload management. He has played 19 games with 52 scalps to show, which is little South of twice the number of wickets Thakur, who is next on the list, has taken (29). Saini hasn’t played a Test since Brisbane and Unadkat has played once.
