THE extent of corruption in the state forest department seems to have gone beyond the shocking.
Days after a divisional forest officer (DFO) was found possessing an astonishing 123 land plots including farm houses along with other valuable assets, a deputy ranger posted in Jeypore has been caught with a cash stash of a whopping ₹1.43 crore cash and gold weighing over 1.5 kg.
Acting on allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to income, the state Vigilance on Friday conducted raids on places associated with deputy ranger-cum-in-charge ranger of Jeypore forest range Rama Chandra Nepak and recovered the cash and valuables.
