Subdued rains may impact flow of Cauvery to TN

AFTER reaching the halfway point of the Southwest monsoon, the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) expressed satisfaction with the water flow from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu's Mettur Dam.
AFTER reaching the halfway point of the Southwest monsoon, the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee (CWRC) expressed satisfaction with the water flow from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu's Mettur Dam. However, due to a weaker monsoon in August, the flow from Karnataka has relatively decreased. The committee stated that it will review the total monthly flow at the end of August and will issue directions accordingly.
In its 120th meeting of the CWRC, it assessed that Karnataka has released 162 TMC water flows at interstate point Biligundlu between June 1 and August 11, 2025, which is more than required for the whole monsoon season. Even Puducherry received 3 TMC water against the stipulated 1.3 TMC.
