'Sebi watchful of SME segment manipulation'

Regulator receives feedback that some entities misusing this platform

THE Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on Monday said it has noticed signs of manipulation in the SME segment. The manipulation is seen in the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as well as in their trading.
"We do see the signs (of price manipulation), we have the technology to do it. We are able to see certain patterns. I'd say it is still on the kitchen table, it's not yet gone into the oven," said SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch on Tuesday in Mumbai.
