SC Refuses to Relax Ban on Manufacturing, Storage and Sale of Firecrackers

The Supreme Court on Thursday, in its order, refused to modify its earlier decision of banning the manufacture, storage, and sale of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR, considering the fact that air pollution levels had remained alarming, and people working on streets faced much health hazards due to the increasing pollution level.
A two-judge bench of the apex court, led by Justice Abhay S Oka and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, refused to relax the ban imposed on the manufacture, storage, and sale of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR. The firecracker companies and certain others had moved the top court seeking modification of the ban on firecrackers in Delhi-NCR.
